The First Annual Interdisciplinary Humanities Symposium inaugurates a new tradition at ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½.Ìý The conference will highlight interdisciplinary work in the Humanities being done in ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½â€™s graduate programs, and will also feature some of the most exciting work being done around the country, including keynote lectures by and .Ìý Planned each year by students in ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½â€™s interdisciplinary humanities Ph.D. Minor, the Symposium addresses both substantive questions that cross boundaries between humanistic disciplines, as well as methodological questions, and the specific challenges and opportunities presented by interdisciplinary work in the Humanities within a rapidly changing university landscape.Ìý This year’s meeting will present panel discussions among ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ and external faculty, as well as featured presentations of the newest ongoing interdisciplinary work by ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ graduate students in the Humanities.

Symposium presenters and attendees engage in a seminar-style reading session on Susan Sontag's "Against Interpretation" and Marianne Moore's "Poetry", see attachements. Copies of the texts will be provided; no need to read in advance.
